Restaurant Host / Hostess - Watermill Kitchen + Bar (PT)

A culinary haven awaits its next leader – to help introduce a harmonious fusion of elevated Midwestern cuisine and fresh, local ingredients. As a captivating addition to the renowned Hyatt Regency Coralville, Watermill Kitchen + Bar beckons with its inventive culinary offerings, meticulously curated beverage selection, and an ambiance that redefines modern dining.

Purpose of the Position : Greeting and escorting guests to tables in the restaurant maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction.

As our Restaurant Host or Hostess , you would :

  • Meet and greet guests as they arrive, gather information such as name, check guest’s reservations or log them in as set up. Ensure even distribution of tables for each server.
  • Politely take guests to table, hand them menus, wine list, and inform them who their server will be, inform them of specials and leave with a courteous greeting.
  • Receive, record, and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.
  • Assists wait staff and bus staff as needed.
  • Assist with all to-go orders.
  • Participate in setting up of dining room and buffets.
  • Act as a cashier for Dining Room.
  • Process cash / checks payments.
  • Answer phones and maintain voicemail.
  • Responsible for coat check.
  • Thank all guests graciously and invite them to return.
  • Assist with banquet event orders for private functions.
  • Maintain restroom facilities at beginning and throughout shift.
  • Sweep outdoor steps and vacuum carpets.
  • Brush away cobwebs and insects at front door.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • We are looking for our next amazing associate, who will have :

  • Ability to read, speak, and write the English language, to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, and reservations.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
  • Ability to move through a crowded room to seat guests.
  • Relay important reservation requests to servers.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and self-motivate during slow periods.
  • Ability to work POS system.
  • Computerized Reservation System handling.

  • Good speaking voice and ability to maintain composure during stressful situations.
  • Ability to interact with adults and children in a professional manner.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to direct guests to events throughout the hotel.
  • Maintain a clean environment and ensure area is always organized.
  • Clean all menus before, during and after shift.

    • Compensation : $14.00 / hourly
