Job Title : Relay Technician II Position Summary : System One is partnering with our client in search of a skilled and proactive Relay Technician II. In this role, you will assist in the design and implementation of electrical layouts for substations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, Rural Utilities Service Bulletins, the National Electric Safety Code, and the National Electric Code. You will work collaboratively to develop materials contracts and procurement specifications that guarantee safe and reliable electric service for our community. Key Responsibilities : Support the design of substation relaying and metering for both new installations and the maintenance / re-design of existing systems. Assist in the preparation of material lists and contracts for electrical components associated with substations. Produce detailed designs, drawings, specifications, materials lists, SEL relay logic, SCADA point lists, communication processor configurations, and compliance documentation. Contribute to drafting tasks adhering to established drafting standards, ensuring clarity and precision in all documentation. Conduct on-site evaluations at new and existing substation construction locations for technical oversight and support. Required Knowledge & Skills : Strong foundational knowledge in substation relaying and metering design, including relay event analysis, SCADA systems, and system protection theory. Familiarity with substation components, including protective relays, revenue meters, communication processors, and associated schematics. Competency in wiring diagrams, metering, power transformers, potential transformers, and various types of current transformers. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and possess a basic understanding of AutoCAD and SEL software. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various teams and external vendors. Qualifications : Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electronics Technology. 3 to 5 years of relevant relay and metering experience required; additional related education / experience may be considered. Completion of or progress towards TVPPA Metering & Relaying courses is preferred. Valid driver's license is required; any restrictions will be evaluated based on job-related necessities. Work Environment & Physical Requirements : This position is primarily office-based with occasional site visits, requiring the ability to navigate outdoor work conditions. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining focus during extended periods of operation on a computer.
