Job Description
Join Tesla as a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer, Battery Pack, Powertrain. A Manufacturing Equipment Engineer in the Production Engineering team will operate, sustain, and improve some of the most automated manufacturing equipment in the world.

A high aptitude to learn new skillsets is required. Engineers will start with strengths in a given field and learn all other areas from those who work with them. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts of the automated equipment.
What You'll Do
- Sustain 24 by 7 production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
- Lead a cross-functional TPM team, take on improvement projects, and diagnose equipment failures to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness
- Develop and improve equipment validation procedures, including calibration and qualification
- Become an Expert Level Trainer on all machines in assigned area and provide hands-on support to maintenance team
- Initiate, create, and improve Preventative and Predictive Maintenance documents and schedules
- Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms and program industrial 6-axis robots
- Program and teach vision systems
- Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, and cost reduction work
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, or equivalent experience4+ years of experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and configurationExperience commissioning and improving Equipment, with a demonstrated track record of Overall Equipment Effectiveness improvementVision system development and qualification experienceRobotics experience, including maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and teachingProven experience in VFD and Servo programming, and developing HMI'sExperience with 2D / 3D modeling software, including layout creation, tooling drawings, pneumatic, and electrical schematicsStrong problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for learning systems quicklyAble to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematicsStrong ability to communicate effectively with team and peersBenefits
