We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to oversee and coordinate all mechanical construction activities on industrial job sites. The successful candidate will ensure that all mechanical work — including piping, rotating equipment, structural steel, and HVAC systems — is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role is critical in managing field operations, supervising subcontractors, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and compliance regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
Supervise daily mechanical construction activities on-site, including installation of piping systems, mechanical equipment, pressure vessels, and other industrial components.
Interpret mechanical drawings, isometric diagrams, P&IDs, and specifications to ensure proper installation.
Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and in-house craft labor to ensure smooth workflow and productivity.
Monitor and enforce safety practices and procedures to ensure a zero-incident work environment (in compliance with OSHA or site-specific standards).
Conduct daily job site inspections to ensure work is progressing as planned and meets all quality standards.
Track progress, productivity, and material usage; prepare and submit daily and weekly reports to the project management team.
Collaborate with project engineers and planners to resolve technical issues and maintain alignment with project scope and timelines.
Participate in project planning meetings, look-ahead schedules, and provide input on mechanical construction sequencing and logistics.
Support commissioning and startup activities as needed.
Manage and verify mechanical punch lists and work completions prior to turnover.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
7+ years of relevant mechanical construction experience, with at least 3 years in a superintendent or supervisory role.
Strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems, fabrication methods, rigging, welding processes, and rotating / static equipment.
Experience working in industrial construction environments such as refineries, power plants, manufacturing facilities, or similar.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) is a plus.
OSHA 30 certification, NCCER, or similar industry credentials preferred.
Working Conditions :
Job is performed in a field / industrial construction environment.
Extended hours and weekend work may be required depending on project needs.
Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and capable of climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working in confined spaces as needed.
