Position Summary
We are seeking an AutoCAD Designer I to join the Engineering team. This team ensures the structural integrity, safety, and long-term sustainability of our tower portfolio while maintaining strict compliance with industry standards. The Engineering Designer I will be responsible for creating and revising detailed construction drawings for telecommunications sites, using advanced CAD tools to support wireless carrier installations and structural modifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate AutoCAD with an understanding of national and internal CAD standards to develop accurate design and construction drawings.
- Produce drawings including site layouts, electrical designs, antenna attachments, equipment placement, and structural modifications .
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners such as the Structural Engineering team to ensure alignment on project requirements and revisions.
- Maintain drawing accuracy by incorporating updates, survey data, and feedback from internal teams and customers.
- Evaluate equipment placement for accessibility and compliance with lease or site restrictions.
- Integrate vendor-provided equipment into construction documents and detailed designs.
- Support design efforts across multiple engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, and structural).
- Review and revise drawings based on engineer and customer feedback.
- Perform peer reviews of basic design drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Complete other duties as assigned in support of engineering operations.
Qualifications
- Education :
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, or a related field; or
- Associate degree in a related field plus at least 1 year of experience in construction, engineering, telecommunications, or steel design / fabrication.
- Technical Proficiency :
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2017 or higher (2D drafting skills required).
- Experience with Advanced Steel, Civil 3D, Inventor, InfraWorks , or other BIM software preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook .
- Skills & Competencies :
- Detail-oriented with the ability to produce accurate and compliant construction documents.
- Basic understanding of structural components, construction methods, and general engineering principles .
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across departments and organizational levels.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to contribute positively within a team-driven culture.
Additional Information
- Candidates must successfully complete a short AutoCAD skills assessment as part of the interview process.
- Technical certification from an accredited technology school is acceptable in lieu of degree requirements.
