Position Title : Director of Nursing\n\nHours : Full-time, 40+ hours per week\n\nResponsible to : CEO\n\nRequirements : \n\n
Must hold and maintain Delaware State Registered Nurse License\n\n
Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification\n\n
Understand and keep current with federal and state regulations as they pertain to Skilled Nursing Facility\n\n
Valid driver's license with reliable transportation\n\n
Proficiency with laptop / desktop PC, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange with the ability and willingness to train and learn new software as is applicable to position\n\n
Experience within management role supervising others for 3+ years desirable\n\n
Five (5) or more years' experience working within long term care setting preferred\n\n
Ability to multitask\n\nPosition summary : \n\nPlan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with all federal, state and local guidelines and regulations that govern the facility. Must be compassionate and understanding of the needs of the elderly while supporting the mission and values of the Kutz Senior Living Campus.\n\nSpecific Requirements : \n

Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to Assisted Living\n

Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality care\n
Must have patience, professional disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to manage difficult residents and guests\n
Must be open to considering new methods and principles to achieve goals\n
A working knowledge of Dementia Care a must\n\nAdministrative Functions : \n
Develop and implement a nursing service organization structure\n
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Nursing Department in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the facility\n
Develop, maintain, update, and review written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing department annually\n
Develop, maintain, update and review annually the Nursing Procedures Manual\n
Maintain high level of familiarity with State regulations, and participate in organizational meetings / seminars for that purpose\n
Develop, maintain, and periodically update written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel\n
Develop methods for coordination of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' service plan\n
Participate in Quality Assurance Committee meetings to develop and implement appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies\n
Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary\n
Maintain a reference library of written nursing material (i.e. PDR's, State Regulations, etc.) that will assist the nursing department in meeting the day-to-day needs of the residents\n
Attend seminars, conferences, association meetings as needed\n\nCommittee Functions : \n
Direct, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility as required, and implement appropriate recommendations as they pertain to nursing services\n
Assist the Pharmaceutical Consultant in developing, maintaining, implementing, and periodically updating written policies and procedures for the administration, storage, and control of medications and supplies\n\nPersonnel Functions : \n
Determine the staffing needs of the nursing service department necessary to meet the total nursing needs of the residents. Recommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed, and hire accordingly\n
Ensure that all nursing staff have completed the necessary training required for designated roles and maintain their certification\n
Arrange regular staff in-services to keep staff members up-to-date with industry and Community changes\n
Ensure that a sufficient number of licensed nurses and CNA's are assigned per shift to ensure that quality care is maintained\n
Make daily rounds of the building to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards\n
Monitor absenteeism to ensure that an adequate number of nursing care personnel are on duty at all times\n
Make appropriate reports to the Administrator as required or as may be necessary, including department performance evaluations\n
Ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or marital status\n
Review and investigate complaints and grievances made or filed by nursing department personal, residents, families, visitors or any other person\n
Ensure all nursing employees are provided an annual evaluation and provided the opportunity to discuss the outcomes\n\nNursing Care Functions : \n
Assess the clinical criteria of all potential residents prior to admission approval, complete State required Uniform Assessment Instrument and determine level of care classification\n
Review Resident Care Plan with resident / resident representative annually or as needed during changes in medical status.\n
Communicate all level of care changes to billing officer\n
Schedule daily rounds to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met in accordance with the resident service plan / request\n
Monitor medication passes and treatment schedule to ensure that they are administered as ordered per schedule\n\nEquipment and Supply Functions : \n
Recommend equipment and supply needs of the department to the Administrator\n
Develop and implement procedures that ensure nursing service supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste\n\nService Plan and Assessment Functions : \n
Completion and updating of all resident assessments in accordance with State Regulations\n
Monitor the documentation of the nursing department to ensure compliance\n\nResidents Rights : \n
Maintain HIPAA and the confidentiality of all resident care information\n
Monitor nursing care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity, and respect. Respond and investigate all allegations of resident abuse or misuse of resident's property\n\nPhysical and sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of Mechanical Devices) : \n
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position\n
Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies\n
Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability\n
