We are seeking an Assistant Principal who is an instructional leader, a skilled communicator, and a culture builder, ready to partner with teachers, families, and the community to support the academic and personal growth of every scholar.
Position Overview
The Assistant Principal (AP) at Freedom Elementary is a critical member of the campus leadership team, responsible for supporting the Principal in achieving the schools mission of excellence for all students. The AP provides direct coaching to teachers, leads data-driven instructional planning, facilitates a positive school culture, and ensures systems for student achievement and teacher development are executed with fidelity.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an instructional leader by observing classrooms, delivering actionable feedback, and facilitating teacher development aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study (K5).
- Collaborate with the Principal to implement high-impact academic strategies across all grade levels.
- Analyze academic and behavioral data to guide schoolwide decisions and differentiated supports for scholars and teachers.
- Promote a positive and safe school culture by modeling and reinforcing school-wide behavioral expectations and restorative practices.
- Assist in the design and execution of professional development sessions aligned to school goals.
- Support and implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to meet all scholars academic and behavioral needs.
- Facilitate and lead grade-level, intervention, and family conferences as needed.
- Manage day-to-day operations, transitions, and arrival / dismissal systems with consistency and efficiency.
- Build strong relationships with staff, scholars, and families based on trust, accountability, and high expectations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of observations, coaching, discipline, and parent communication.

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field strongly preferred(Preferred) Valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License with School Administrator (Principal) endorsementAt least 35 years of successful teaching experience (preferably K5)Minimum 12 years of leadership, coaching, or administrative experience$80,000 - $90,000 a year
