Description :

Department : Respiratory Therapy.

Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NRP, RRT or CRT.

No clinical involvement is required.

Typically, only one RT is staffed per shift.

The unit covers patients from neonatal to geriatrics.

Services extend throughout all hospital areas.

Key job duties include assisting with mechanical deliveries and complicated neonatal delivery / c-section cases.

RTs also perform routine treatments on the medical / surgical floor and assist with EKGs.

The facility is a Level IV trauma center, involved in stroke and trauma stabilization until patient transfer.

Ventilated patients are transferred to further care.

The emergency room sees more than 60 patients daily, delivering an average of 58 babies each month.

The traveler may be the only RT in-house on occasion.

Equipment includes Airvo, PB 840 Vent, PB 980 Vent, LVT 1200 portable vent, Hamilton G-5, V-60 Respironics, and BirdBlenders.

Schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts from 6 am to 6 pm, with call and rotating weekends.

Every other holiday coverage is required.

Call includes a 12-hour commitment after shifts worked.

Three 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided.

Scrubs should be green, with any color allowed on Fridays.

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles away and cannot have been employed as full-time, part-time, or PRN in any associated facilities within the past 12 months.

RTO must be provided upfront, as additional time off will not be approved after submissions.

The hospital can cancel up to four shifts during the 13-week assignment.

A charting system is in place, and a BSN is not required.
