Building Controls Design Engineer

$85,000 - $100,000 + Full Benefits + 401k (4% Match) + 3 Weeks PTO + Tuition Reimbursement

Plymouth, MN (Onsite 4 Days per Week)

Are you an experienced Design Engineer with a background in HVAC controls or building automation, looking for a highly technical role where you can design innovative smart building solutions?

On offer is a position with a nationally recognised energy services firm where youll design and produce detailed HVAC and building automation control system drawings for high-profile commercial clients.

This company is a privately owned, employee-focused energy project management firm, delivering turnkey lighting and energy efficiency solutions nationwide.

In this role, youll develop AutoCAD-based control system drawings, sequences of operation, and submittal packages while coordinating closely with project managers, engineers, and field technicians. Youll play a key role in supporting the full project lifecycle from initial design through installation and commissioning.

This role would suit someone with HVAC controls design experience or an AutoCAD background who thrives in a collaborative, high-volume project environment.

The Role :

  • Develop AutoCAD-based control system drawings, sequences of operation, and construction packages
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to align design and installation
  • Support RFIs, design changes, and provide technical assistance during commissioning phases

The Candidate :

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering (or similar) preferred
  • Experience in HVAC controls design, BAS, or smart building systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with HVAC systems, mechanical schedules, and controls sequences
