Job Overview

DAVID HALL MASONRY, INC. is looking for an experienced and detail-driven Construction Estimating Manager to lead our Estimating Department. You will oversee a team of 3–4 estimators, guide the preparation of bid proposals, manage change orders, and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. You will report to the President and oversee the full estimating lifecycle—from bid strategy and budget tracking to standardizing estimating procedures. You will help win new work and support project success by delivering well-coordinated, competitive estimates that reflect our craftsmanship and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development : coach and develop the estimating team; review junior estimators; manage department KPIs.
  • Bid Management & Oversight : evaluate bid invitations; prepare and submit proposals; maintain bid logs and database; ensure compliance with client requirements and internal standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication : act as primary contact during proposals; maintain client relationships; participate in pre / post-bid meetings; coordinate with the President on strategic decisions.
  • Process & Quality Control : standardize estimating processes; perform desk reviews to ensure proper documentation; track change orders; coordinate material submittals, procurement, and scheduling with Operations; hand off to Project Management when awarded.
  • Cost Analysis & Optimization : review quotations; analyze data for cost efficiencies; monitor economic trends and assess risk; incorporate cost implications into strategy.
  • Additional Responsibilities : assist with building permit submissions; promote company services.

Qualifications

  • Experience & Education : 5+ years in construction estimating or a related leadership role; High School Diploma or GED required; construction management or business coursework a plus.
  • Leadership & Team Management : proven ability to mentor and develop estimating teams; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication & Client Relations : excellent written and verbal communication; client-facing ability to present proposals and build relationships.
  • Analytical & Technical Skills : numerate with strong data analysis; attention to detail; manage supplier relationships and material lead times.
  • Regulatory & Documentation Proficiency : read and apply technical documents, plans, and regulations; capable of writing reports and procedural documents.
  • Software & Technology : proficient in Excel, Word, and Project; advanced experience with On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, and Procore.
  • Industry Knowledge : knowledge of estimating methodologies and best practices; strong research and presentation capabilities.
