JOB DESCRIPTION

Join Polaris, a leader in powertrain innovation, as a Development Engineer. In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge powertrain technologies. You will plan and coordinate testing and technical development, focusing on hardware in both test cell and lab environments, as well as in the field. Collaborate closely with other Powertrain Departments and Chassis Engineering to create exhilarating, class-leading powertrain solutions. Implement and maintain rigorous engineering procedures, requirements, and specifications to ensure excellence in the development process. Lead and mentor test technicians and engineers on impactful technical projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Innovative Testing & Development : Draft, execute, and update DVP&R. Utilize your engineering expertise to develop and specify test procedures and equipment for performance and system development testing on Polaris engines and transmissions.
  • Cross-Site Coordination : Manage testing aspects of hardware development projects across multiple sites. Develop test criteria, system requirements, and set ambitious goals, objectives, and schedules.
  • Data Analysis & Communication : Record and analyze test data using advanced statistical and analytical techniques. Research alternatives, implement solutions, and correlate Analysis Led Design to test results. Prepare and communicate technical summaries clearly and concisely.
  • Integrated Product Team Collaboration : Engage with the Integrated Product Team (Design Engineer, Chassis Application / Test Engineer, Calibration Engineer, Validation Engineer, Project Engineer) to support vehicle integration of powertrain modules.
  • Design Influence : Recommend and influence new designs or improvements for engine / transmission components, working closely with the design group.
  • Technical Leadership : Participate in DFMEAs, design reviews, hardware teardown reviews, and root cause failure analysis. Lead and contribute to system and subsystem peer teams.
  • Additional Responsibilities : Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Educational Background : BS or MS Engineering Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in engine / transmission hardware development or general product development engineering.
  • Technical Expertise : Experience with dynamometer testing methods and powertrain testing equipment. Familiarity with one or more Powertrain Development Categories such as Power Cylinder, Engine Structure, Cranktrain, Valvetrain, Lubrication or Hydraulic System, Fuel Injectors and Sprays, Combustion, Engine Airflow, Intake and Exhaust System, Emissions, Forced Induction, Performance Development, Transmission Hardware Development, and Shift Controls Development.
  • Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Global Collaboration : Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
  • Software Proficiency : Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with AVL Testing Equipment and Software (IndiSet, PUMA, Concerto) is a plus.
  • Multitasking Ability : Capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

    The starting pay range for Minnesota is $72,000 to $95,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.

    To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
