Unit Description :

The Primary Nurse  in Ambulatory Oncology serves as a pivotal member of the patients' multidisciplinary team, coordinating care across the continuum.  Key aspects of this role include triage of acute illness, ongoing patient assessment and evaluation of response to illness and care, and the provision of comprehensive patient education.

The Ambulatory RN provides advanced professional nursing care to patients in varying states of health and illness through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's health needs. The Ambulatory RN II works within a care team determined by diagnosis and provider and becomes an expert in their area of care. They work closely with patients and families and are responsible for triaging calls / mycharts as well as teaching and preparation for continuing care. Organizational Standards of Patient Care and Nursing Practice guide the delivery of nursing services by this individual. The position demonstrates dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care.

EXPERIENCE :

Greater than one year of RN experience preferred

On-call : Not required

Requirements :

  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.
  • ADN required, BSN preferred.
  • Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
