Overview

Kettle Coordinator - 13-005 - SC / Cathedral City Corps

This is a seasonal role from October 2025 to January 2026. The coordinator is responsible for the preparation, execution, and management of the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign for The Salvation Army of Cathedral City by coordinating, communicating, and supporting the volunteers and staff who participate in the campaign, and working with the Corps Officer through the Christmas season.

Responsibilities

  • Contact all store managers by letter or phone to seek permission to establish a kettle site at their location. Acquire necessary documentation (insurance, etc.) for each site.
  • Check all equipment and maintain kettle equipment (kettles, kettle stands, bells, aprons) to ensure they are clean and in good condition.
  • Assist with placing help-wanted advertising for bell ringers in newspapers, etc.
  • Ensure stands and signs are delivered to kettle sites the day before kettles begin and picked up at season end.
  • Be available at the beginning and end of each day to assign volunteers to sites, discuss problems, and answer questions.
  • Coordinate the usage of volunteers for kettles and special events.
  • Establish driver schedules and routes.
  • Perform spot checks on volunteers to ensure quality presentation.
  • Troubleshoot problems with bell ringers, managers, drivers, etc.
  • Keep records of kettle volunteer assignments and monitor locations' productivity in coordination with the Corps Officer.
  • Assist with the accounting of kettle money, ensuring each kettle has a record of date, location, volunteer, and time in / out and that kettles are accounted for at the end of each day.
  • Inventory all equipment at season end and prepare a season-ending brief.
  • Perform other seasonal duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or AA Degree in General Education.
  • Must have good communication and coordination skills.
  • Must be willing to work with a multitude of different individuals and groups.
  • Must be able to drive and operate a Salvation Army vehicle.
  • Must be good with logistics.
  • Must be willing to work evenings.
  • Must be able to speak to groups internally and externally.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files and drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand written information.
  • Pay

    Pay : $17.50 / hour
