About This Role

Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree, be ACVECC or ECVECC board certified, or be eligible to take the certifying examination. The successful candidate will have autonomy over the critical care service and will work in conjunction with the Emergency / Urgent Care / ICU Service that includes 6 faculty members and 24 service-dedicated staff members (at least 9 credentialed veterinary technicians), as well as small animal rotating interns. The intensive care unit is approximately 1600 square feet and can accommodate 24 to 28 patients, with plans for an expansion to include a step-down unit to house less critical patients. Kansas State University is committed to establishment of a robust critical care service with state-of-the art equipment.

The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University is supported by board certified faculty in small animal medicine and surgery, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, dermatology, oncology (medical and radiation), zoological / exotics medicine and surgery, and diagnostic imaging. Collaborative research opportunities are readily available through the department, hospital, and broader college community. Directed clinical service will include delivery of critical care services to small animal patients in the Veterinary Health Center. Teaching responsibilities include instruction of veterinary students and interns in clinical rounds and didactic lectures.

Minimum Qualifications :

Clinical Assistant Professor

  • DVM (or equivalent) degree
  • Qualified to provide quality clinical services and participate in the teaching programs of the department and college

Clinical Associate Professor

  • DVM
  • Demonstrate excellence in clinical service, patient care, and clinical instruction
  • The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

    Additional licenses / registrations / certifications :

  • ACVECC or ECVECC board certified, or eligible to take the certifying examination.
