ETV News Writer – Price Job at Emerytelcom in Price

ETV News is the only local newspaper. ETV News also has a local news website with an accompanying local cable TV channel. We provide local news and information to residents in Carbon and Emery Counties.

Position Overview

The focus of this position will be to help the department produce daily and weekly news articles as well as assist with the publishing of the overall newspaper. This may include writing news articles on local news events, community events, government updates, follow-up stories, etc.

Primary Job Duties

The primary job duties may include but are not limited to :

• Reporting on local news, community events, government meetings, etc.
• Research new content including local news stories, sports, theatrical performances and other social events.
• Writing and proofing articles.
• Graphic design and newspaper layout – this will include helping with editing, design and scheduling with the weekly paper.
• Customer service responsibilities – this will include helping answer walk-in traffic inquiries when customers come to report news or request an article / ad be published and either take the assignment to complete the task or collaborate with co-workers to make sure the request is being covered.
• Establish relationships with community members that will be key in writing articles.
• Take assignments to cover events in the community and write news articles as needed.
• Take pictures as needed to help cover news events.
• This person may be asked to help out with ETV local channel events as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Position Details

This is a full-time position with benefits. This position will primarily report to the Price ETV News Office. This person must have great communication skills, be comfortable writing articles, be comfortable working on a computer, and be able to learn new computer programs. This person must be able to be in the office during certain office hours throughout the week.
