Overview
The Assistant Salon Manager is responsible for overseeing all
aspects of salon operations and acting as the primary leader in the salon in
the absence of the Sr. District Leader / District Leader / Salon Manager . They are responsible for achieving salon
goals. Specifically, the Assistant Salon
Manager is expected to :

Qualifications
Valid current cosmetologylicense, to include a manager license as required by local (orstate / provincial) cosmetology regulations.Ability to work a minimum of 35hours per week on a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Occasional overtime and overnight travelmay be required. Position mayrequire working alone in the salon.Ability to provide exceptional guestservice and consistently perform quality services.A team player with strongleadership qualities. Ability tomulti-task and work at a fast pace while demonstrating good judgment andtime management skills.Communicate effectively withsalon team, peers, supervisors and guests.Ability to read and analyzevarious salon reports.Basic reading, writing, mathand computer skills required.Capabilities :

Ensure team
drives guest loyalty through an exceptional salon experience :
Coach and develop the teamthrough existing guest service training programs.Collect or verify guestinformation during every visit.Create weekly salon schedulesusing available scheduling and forecasting tools that support the guestexperience and ensure the salon is adequately staffed.Ensure salon team presents aprofessional appearance and a positive attitude.Handle and resolve guestservice issues to maintain guest loyalty.Promote the salon
within the community and grow the business :
Utilize existing business toolsto attract and retain guests.Coordinate promotional salesdisplays as directedDevelop and maintain localbusiness relationshipsEstablish
and maintain a positive working relationship with peers, salon personnel and
home office personnel, as well as landlords, property managers, licensors and
beauty school.
Lead and develop
a team :
With the support of the Sr. DistrictLeader / District Leader / Salon Manager, recruit, interview, hire, train andretain staff.Create a positive workenvironment through motivation, recognition and coaching.Work with Sr. District Leader / DistrictLeader / Salon Manager to set monthly and daily goals and objectives forteam. Measure performance and provide coaching.In conjunction with the Sr. DistrictLeader / District Leader / Salon Manager, schedule and conduct staff meetingsand technical workshops as required.Document importantconversations and incidents.Manage and
control expenses :
Work with Sr. District Leader / DistrictLeader / Salon Manager to effectively control of salon payroll.Effectively control salonoperating costs such as supply and retail inventory, utilities, andmaintenance costs.Audit salon to ensure employeescharge correctly for services and products.Demonstrate
strong technical ability :
Display a sound understandingand perform all available services in a competent, efficient andprofessional manner.Train and provide guidance toemployees on proper techniques for services offered.Complete required
administrative tasks / compliance :
Enforce and promote allcorporate policies, procedures and work rules.Ensure closing procedures areadhered to and daily bank deposits are made.Ensure
that the assets of their salon are protected and that loss prevention policies
are adhered to.
Ensure the cleanliness of thesalon and that the salon complies with all applicable state and localsanitation rules.Perform and delegate a varietyof tasks related to salon operations, including but not limited to : answering telephones, stocking shelves,taking cycle counts / inventory, and other duties as assigned.Ensure all staff licenses arecurrent, valid and posted as required.Ensure all items required bystate and federal law are posted in salon as directed by company.Maintain and uphold safetystandards by identifying and correcting conditions that affect salonsafety.Ensure salon is open for allposted hours covering any employees’ shifts, if necessary.Physical
Requirements and Work Environment
Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs.to pick up bottles of product needed to perform hair services and stockretail shelves. Occasional lifting10-25 lbs. to assist unloading monthly shipment of products.Continuously perform hairservices and perform other job-related functions throughout each work shift.Greet guests at the front ofthe salon, escort them back to the styling chair and to and from the shampooarea and escort them back to the front of the salon once the services arecompleted.Retrieve supplies needed toperform services from various areas of the salon.Continuous repetitive movementwith fingers, hands, wrists and arms, including but not necessarilylimited to using scissors to cut hair, rolling hair in rods to performperm services, vigorous movement to massage / shampoo guest’s hair, twistingwrists to blow dry and style hair with various irons.Continuous grasping of guest’shair, blow dryer, curling iron, combs, and hair coloring brushes in orderto perform services.Continuous reaching,alternating between shoulder level and above-shoulder-level height toperform services, stock shelves, retrieve product / supplies from cupboardsand shelves.Frequent twisting and bendingto shampoo guest’s hair, frequent twisting to reach for tools while guestis seated in styling chair and sweep hair off the floor after service.Occasional pushing and pullingto move styling chair.Continuous exposure to variouschemicals and fragrances used in performing services and styling hair,including but not limited to permanent solutions, straightening solutions,shampoos, conditioners, hair spray and guest perfume.Occasional climbing ofladder / stepstool to stock shelves, retrieve products, change bi-monthlycollateral, and maintain salon.Visual observation of guest’shair, including close vision, color vision and the ability to adjustfocus.Ability to communicate with guestsregarding services offered and requested and regarding guest needs anddesires with regard to such services.
