About Us
Angela Faye Brown & Associates is a mission-driven law firm dedicated to protecting children and empowering parents — particularly in Black, Latino, and immigrant communities — as they navigate life’s hardest transitions with strategy, clarity, and compassion.
We focus on high-conflict custody, support, enforcement, and property division cases, always through a child-first lens. We also offer select immigration services for families working to build secure, lawful futures in the U.S. Our clients are parents who care deeply about their children and want clarity, protection, and peace — not just legal paperwork.
Our firm is actively transitioning to a full flat-fee model to give families financial predictability and to allow attorneys to focus on resolution, not the clock. We’re also in the process of upgrading our internal systems — including workflows, task management, and communication protocols — to better support flat-fee delivery and long-term client satisfaction.
We’re hiring now because we want those systems to reflect the real needs of the attorneys who use them. You won’t be dropped into chaos — but you also won’t be handed something rigid and outdated. We’re looking for someone ready to lead, collaborate, and help shape what comes next.
As a remote-first firm with strong roots in Houston and Austin, we offer the flexibility of a distributed team with the impact of deeply local representation. Attorneys are given meaningful autonomy, a full docket of active cases, and the support of a small, committed, values-driven team.
We are currently hiring a Senior Family Law Attorney to take over a Houston-based docket and serve as a strategic, steady presence for families who need guidance and protection. If you love practicing family law, care deeply about client experience, and enjoy improving systems while getting results — we’d love to talk.
Responsibilities
Take ownership of 20+ active family law cases, including custody, support, enforcement, and property division
Guide and de-escalate emotionally distressed clients with compassion and professionalism
Lead strategy, drafting, discovery, negotiation, and court appearances
Appear in Houston courts and travel to Austin for significant hearings as needed
Collaborate with remote support staff and paralegals
Contribute to systems improvement as the firm transitions to flat-fee delivery
Optional : assist in light immigration matters or community outreach workshops
Qualifications
Required :
Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar
10+ years of experience in Texas family law
Skilled in managing high-conflict cases from intake through final orders
Proven ability to handle an active docket with limited supervision
Strong writing, courtroom, and client communication skills
Comfortable supporting and de-escalating clients in crisis
Houston-based and available for in-person court as needed
Proficient in Spanish (able to communicate with Spanish-speaking clients)
Comfortable with cloud-based platforms and remote collaboration
Preferred :
Experience with flat-fee or referral-based practice models
Familiarity with Houston courts and local practices
Background serving Black, Latino, or immigrant communities
Experience mentoring others or participating in firm leadership
Curiosity or experience in immigration law (SIJS, I-130s, or work permits)
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive salary, based on experience and impact
Flexible, remote-first schedule
Flat-fee structure — no chasing billables
Full docket of meaningful, mission-aligned cases
Autonomy with a supportive team behind you
Opportunity to shape workflows and help define how flat-fee practice should work
To Apply
Please submit : Your resume
A short cover note explaining why this work — and this community — matters to you and answer this question "What’s one thing you’ve learned about client communication that you wish you knew earlier in your career?"
(Optional but encouraged) : Your Kolbe A™ and / or CliftonStrengths Top 5 results
Applications without an answer to the required question will not be considered. We’re hiring with care and intention — and we’re looking for someone who brings the same.
Company Description
Angela Faye Brown & Associates is a small but mighty law firm with big ideas and a deep commitment to families. Our guiding principle is simple but powerful : children deserve healthy access to both their parents. Everything we do — from how we communicate to how we bill — is rooted in protecting that right.
Our practice is built around KidFirst Decisionmaking — a philosophy that centers the well-being of children in every legal strategy. Whether we're designing creative visitation plans or guiding clients through high-conflict custody battles, our goal is to help parents become better for their kids and protect children from harmful behavior in co-parenting relationships.
We’re not just looking for employees. We’re building a team of mission-aligned advocates who care deeply about the families we serve and want to grow with us. As a remote-first firm expanding across Texas, we welcome professionals who bring passion, integrity, and a commitment to both outcomes and impact.
What Sets Us Apart
Mission-Driven Practice : Every case is an opportunity to improve a child’s life.
Flat-Fee Transparency : We remove the billing confusion so families can focus on healing.
Client-Centered Communication : We believe updates shouldn’t be earned — they’re expected.
Tech-Enabled Systems : We’re streamlining how legal work gets done, with precision and care.
Our Core Values
Warm – We meet every client where they are, with compassion and respect.
Innovative – We use technology to improve outcomes and client experience.
Candid – We share truth with clients and colleagues, even when it’s hard.
Passionate – We truly care — and our clients can feel it.
Systematic – We rely on structure, not luck, to deliver excellent legal services.
Fearless – We fight for our clients’ children as if they were our own.
