About National Academy For State Health Policy
The National Academy for State Health Policy is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of, by, and for state policymakers, committed to developing and advancing health policy innovations and solutions.
At NASHP, we engage state leaders to solve problems and share best practices, conduct policy analyses and research, leverage state expertise to develop model policies, disseminate information on state policies and programs, and provide technical assistance to states.
We have an immediate opening for a Policy Intern on our growing Cost, Coverage, & Value (CCV) team.
Position Overview
NASHP Interns play a key role in supporting the organization's mission to advance state health policy and in the development and implementation of activities designed to assist state officials as they address health policy and program challenges.
This role will help support our work focused on state Medicaid programs, including supporting states as they plan for and implement HR1 / OBBBA. The internship may also include work related to addressing health care costs, value, and payment reform.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conducting research on state Medicaid policies and programs using online search methods to track legislation, changes to waivers and state plan amendments (SPAs) to to analyze and synthesize potential state changes
- Assisting in scheduling, planning, and supporting calls, meetings, webinars, and training sessions
- Contributing to the compilation and presentation of data and information in a manner that is concise and accessible to busy state officials
- Attending and supporting convenings as necessary
- Other duties as necessary

Interns must be available to work 15-25 hours per week; Specific working hours will be determined in coordination with the internship supervisorInterns will be paid an hourly wage of $20 / hourNASHP offers a flexible work schedule. We are currently operating in a hybrid work arrangement, with one to two days in the office each week, depending on distance from the office. Our office is located in Washington, DC.The pay range for this role is :
