Description :

The Progressive Care Unit consists of 44 beds.

The unit has a staff of 95.

Day shift staffing includes 2 CNC / Charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC.

Night shift staffing also comprises 2 CNC / Charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC.

Patient ratios are 4 : 1 on the grid and may stretch to 5 : 1.

Equipment utilized includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts.

The electronic medical record system is Cerner.

Typical procedures performed include neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, TLSO brace application, chest tube management, PCA pump operation, IV infusions, lumbar drain placement, and blood transfusion.

A team player with a patient-focused approach is preferred.

Candidates must have neuro and trauma care experience to be considered.

Floating may occur to stepdown units and med-surg units.

Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
