Scope of Position : The Vocational / Recreational Specialist plays a key role in supporting individuals on their journey to independence by connecting them with valuable vocational, educational, and recreational opportunities. In this role, you will work closely with clients to identify their interests and goals, providing referrals and support as they engage in various activities, such as job training, education, and recreational programs. You will assist clients with transportation, appointments, and navigating community resources, ensuring they have access to the tools they need for personal and professional growth.

Essential Position Functions :

• Collaborate with the Case Management team to identify clients interested in vocational and educational services.
• Provide referrals and escort clients to vocational, educational, and recreational activities, utilizing public transportation.
• Manage a caseload of clients and provide coverage as needed.
• Assist in service planning, updating support plans, and conducting assessments.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Facilitate group activities on topics such as wellness, leadership, employment, education, and healthy decision-making.
• Offer crisis intervention when necessary.
• Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), transportation, appointments, and shopping.
• Work with other departments and external agencies to provide comprehensive support.
• Promote community services and assist clients in accessing programs (e.g., benefits, veterans’ services, education).
• Maintain active community involvement to identify needs and foster partnerships.
• Report serious incidents to supervisors and adhere to agency procedures for incident documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
