Senior Manager, Marketing Data Operations
Okta is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager, Marketing Data Operations to join the Marketing Strategy & Operations (MS&O) team. This role establishes and maintains robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance across all marketing data initiatives. The position will transform our marketing data landscape to enable data-driven decision-making and foster a culture of data excellence. This role reports to the Director, Marketing Data Operations & Technology (MDOT) and collaborates with Marketing Analytics, Marketing Systems Engineers, and D&I to optimize the marketing data ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Data Governance : Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of marketing data assets.
- Lead data stewardship, including data classification, ownership assignment, and protection strategies across multiple Marketing systems (Adobe Analytics, Snowflake, Marketo, Salesforce, etc.).
- Champion data governance best practices across the marketing organization and promote a data-first mindset.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations, including GDPR and other relevant standards.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in marketing data governance and enforce taxonomies across systems.
- Establish protocols for reviewing and updating marketing data taxonomies and ensure governance across reporting tools.
- Data Process Management : Continuously review and refine marketing data processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Maintain and update data process documentation and conduct regular training sessions for Data Engineers, Analytics, and Strategy & Planning teams.
- Implement process governance and project management methodologies to ensure adherence to data quality best practices.
- Data Quality Assurance : Collaborate with D&I to ensure timely delivery of accurate, high-quality marketing data.
- Serve as primary point of escalation for data quality issues within the marketing organization.
- Own and manage strategic use cases and roadmaps for data MarTech systems (Clay, Clearbit, StackMoxie, Adobe Analytics, BigQuery, etc.).
- AI Strategy & Innovation : Drive vision for leveraging AI within marketing data operations and governance.
- Lead pilot programs and use cases to explore AI for data quality, automation, insights, and predictive capabilities.
- Collaborate with D&I and analytics teams to evaluate and implement AI / ML solutions that streamline data processes and improve data accuracy.
- Stay informed on emerging AI trends, recommending strategic adoption where appropriate.
- Stakeholder Management & Leadership : Act as the primary contact for marketing stakeholders on data-related projects and develop robust data solutions.
- Serve as integration point between Marketing, MS&Os, and D&I; lead and develop a global data operations team.
- Drive the data governance roadmap and provide regular leadership updates on initiatives.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in data management / operations with a strong focus on data governance.3+ years in leadership or management roles leading data-focused teams.Deep knowledge of data governance, data quality, data security, and data lifecycle management.Solid grasp of enterprise applications in marketing contexts and related workflows (e.g., Marketo, 6sense, Salesforce).Proficiency with SQL and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) and analytics platforms (Adobe Analytics / GaA4).Experience with data cleansing, enrichment tools (e.g., Clay, StackMoxie) and data integration between systems (APIs, data lakes / warehouses).Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts into business terms.Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.Okta’s core leadership competencies emphasize customer focus, empowering people, innovation, integrity, and transparency. Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range varies by location : for candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area, $177,000—$256,000 USD; for California (excluding SF Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington, $158,000—$236,000 USD. Total compensation includes equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits (health, dental, vision, 401(k), FSA, PTO, parental leave, and more) consistent with company policies.
