Must-Have :

Understanding of dementia

Experience with stroke care

Knowledge of geriatric patient care and skin care

Ability to titrate drips (electrolytes, hypertensive medications, IV antibiotics, blood transfusions)

Description :

Position available in an Emergency Room / Medical Surgical / Swing Bed unit.

The department covers critical access care in a rural location.

The unit has 25 beds and serves a diverse patient population.

Common diagnoses include dementia, dependent older adults, diabetes, and post-acute rehabilitation.

RNs are responsible for initial trauma patient care in the ER and management of chronic illness exacerbations.

The nursing staff utilizes team nursing, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1 : 8.

Charge nurses provide support without individual assignments and nurse aides / CNAs are present on each shift.

RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips and handle patient-managed CPAP equipment.

Shifts are scheduled from 0645-1915 and 1845-0715, with block scheduling available upon request.

Weekend requirements are every other week, and holidays are scheduled alternately.

Floating between the ER and MedSurg units is expected.

Scrubs are provided, and there is no specific color requirement.

Candidates must comply with a 50-mile radius rule concerning previous employment affiliations.

Proper documentation of requested time off is required upfront, with limitations on additional requests.

Cancellation policy allows for a maximum of 4 shifts per contract.

The charting system in use is EPIC.
