Job Details
Responsibilities :
Advise public and private educational institutions on employment law matters, including employee discipline, termination, leave policies, wage and hour compliance, and workplace investigations
Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation involving employee claims
Draft and review employment-related agreements, board policies, and internal procedures for compliance with applicable state and federal laws
Conduct trainings and workshops for administrators and staff on employment best practices and legal obligations
Stay current on developments in labor and employment law as they relate to the education sector
Work collaboratively with education law attorneys, school boards, and HR professionals to develop proactive legal strategies
Qualifications :
Active membership in the California State Bar
Minimum of 4 years of employment law experience, with at least 2 years advising or representing educational institutions
Familiarity with the Education Code, Title IX, California Government Code, and applicable labor and employment statutes
Strong writing, advocacy, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience working with school boards, superintendents, and HR personnel is preferred
MUST be based in California
