Utah Valley University invites applications for a Health Science Librarian who will play a key role in advancing teaching, learning, and research across the university’s health programs. The Health Science Librarian will contribute to a dynamic, team-oriented library environment that fosters academic excellence and equitable access to information.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a library liaison to the health sciences faculty by providing information / library support; assists with committee work, program proposals, Rs, grants, and other needs. Assist faculty in locating and accessing relevant resources, both print and electronic, for courses and research projects.
• Provides reference, research assistance, and online search services in the health sciences to students, faculty, and staff. Provide expert reference services to students and staff by assisting them in locating suitable information sources. Conduct in-depth research consultations, guiding users to formulate effective search strategies and evaluate the information they find.
• Provides instruction through class visits, workshops, and individual consultations on health and medical resources and materials, including methods and tools. Design and deliver tailored information literacy sessions and workshops for students and faculty in health sciences programs. Teach students how to critically evaluate information and navigate information resources. Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
• Plans, develops, evaluates, and manages collections related to health subjects. Selects current and retrospective materials in all formats. Evaluates resources for purchase by the library. Collaborates with faculty to assess and understand the evolving needs of health science programs, ensuring that the library's collection aligns with those needs.
• Stays current on the rapidly changing health and medical field and shares the specialized expertise with the library staff and patrons.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited American Library Association university with a Master of Library Science degree is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional graduate study or professional experience in health librarianship is preferred.
