The Screen Printer prints lettering and designs with a screen-printing device on objects such as instrument dials, mechanical equipment, metal and plastic plates, and metal and plastic sheet rock.
The incumbent will work 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday, 6 : 00 a.m. – 2 : 30 p.m. Some overtime work may be required.
Essential Functions
- Fabricate holding fixture so that parts to be screened are held consistently.
- Position object against guides on set-up board or holding fixture of screening device and lower the screen.
- Pour ink into screen frame or dip squeegee in ink and draw squeegee across screen to transfer design to object.
- Clean screen with solvent at end of run and when using different colors.
- Mix inks according to standard formulas.
- Examine printed object for defects and compare printing with supplied documents to verify adherence to quality requirements.
Requirements
One year of on-the-job training or two-year degree in Graphic Arts.Ability to read basic English and communicate with co-workers.Simple math limited to addition and subtraction.Must be able to stand or sit for long hours in one position.Work environment is fast-paced and requires deadlines to be met.May have controlled exposure to solvents and inks. Protective gear is supplied, but people with allergies or respiratory sensitivity to chemicals should not consider this position.Neatness and attention to detail.Ability to troubleshoot printing problems on a basic level.Preferred Experience
