Base pay range

$155,000.00 / yr - $175,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities

The department manager requires extensive technical experience and exercising of judgment in the performance of the position objectives. The department manager must optimize solutions through analysis of varied alternatives. The positions require working with a variety of industries, clients, and technical issues. The department will be expected to supervise and lead others, delegate work, and work on / lead multiple projects at one time. Department Manager responsibilities included in the Supervision of the Department & Projects : Project responsibilities : The department manager is responsible for the successful delivery of the discipline deliverables, quality, and administrative portions of the project.

  • Manage the Department : resources, staffing for billability, assigning capable resources, obtaining new resources, resource planning, training / development, personnel administration
  • Performance and salary reviews, career development, policy adherence, and fostering a safe, productive work environment
  • Office & job site safety, maintaining safety training records, communication of company policy / direction, and department sales & marketing support
  • Internally generate engineering / design sales and support future sales goals; define and estimate support for billability
  • Resource and scheduling forecasts; department growth and vision; development opportunities
  • Collaborate with management to refine and communicate vision; plan deliverables; define scope of services
  • Budgeting for deliverables, schedules, and resources; ensure timely delivery of scope; cross-group coordination
  • Lead project planning of deliverables; oversee quality and adherence to standards
  • Mentor new employees; contribute to performance evaluations and career planning
  • Develop design, engineering, and project management capabilities
  • Scope : develop or use correct scope documents to communicate project objectives to client, project manager, and design team; ensure documents allow design work to proceed in the lead engineer\'s absence
  • Schedule : assist in developing and maintaining project schedule; ensure proper resources and on-time progress
  • Budget and quality : track discipline budgets; ensure quality control procedures for all deliverables
  • Execution Plan : assist in developing and executing the Project Execution Plan; identify risks and delays

Requirements

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical or controls engineering
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing a team of structural engineers is preferred
