Diesel Mechanic Job Description
Reports to the Shop Supervisor
Job Overview
Perform general vehicle repairs with an emphasis on electrical, air, and hydraulic systems, for a fleet of vehicles that includes flatbed lumber trucks, concrete mixer trucks, and various off-road equipment, such as forklifts and wheel loaders. Position will also require preventative maintenance duties, diagnostic testing, and systems troubleshooting.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, such as truck tractors, semi-trailers, forklifts, pickups, concrete mixer trucks, etc.
- Responsible for performing diagnostic testing on diesel engines, transmissions, and brake systems. Trouble shooting electrical, steering, and cooling systems.
- Responsible for performing diagnostic testing on electrical components, hydraulic systems, suspension and braking systems.
- Analyze diagnostic testing results and complete the appropriate repairs.
- Records and tracks the maintenance work performed on vehicles and communicates these services to the shop supervisor.
- Ensures services performed are compliant with the rules and regulations of the Company's inspection and safety procedures.
- Works independently within the Company's established procedures associated with the specific job requirements.
Applicant Education and Work History Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent1-3 years employed as a diesel mechanic.Air conditioning repair and welding experience preferred.Mechanic with own personal tools is a plus.Hire is contingent on Background Check, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and completion of I-9.
