Senior, Master Social Worker Nights - Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration (SAN ANTONIO)

POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides professional level skills required in the clinical practice of mental health counseling and crisis intervention, affording direct services to individuals housed in the adult detention center. Screens and identifies inmates who are mentally ill, have substance use issues, and / or may be at risk for suicide and make the appropriate referral for further assessment. Works as a therapeutic agent as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide evaluation, treatment planning and service coordination for those in adult detention. Counsels and assists patients with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose illness or hinder the patient from receiving maximum benefits from medical / mental health care. Actively supports the policies and procedures of University Health. Acts as a therapeutic agent as a member of multi-disciplinary health and mental health teams. Serves as a team leader and performs supervisory activities.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required. Experience in a health or mental health care setting is preferred.

LICENSURE

Current licensure from the Texas Department of Human Services is required. Certification as a Correctional Health Care Professional preferred.
