About Samaritan

Founded in 1980 by visionary volunteers, Samaritan is South Jersey’s regional nonprofit leader in hospice and palliative care, serving Camden, Gloucester, Burlington, Mercer, and Atlantic Counties. In addition to hospice and palliative medicine, Samaritan provides primary care, grief counseling, and innovative social connection programs. The organization operates two inpatient hospice facilities : The Samaritan Center at Voorhees and The Samaritan Center at Mount Holly.

Samaritan strives to be the region’s preferred provider of life-enhancing care and lead the advancement of coordinated, person-centered care with extraordinary compassion and expertise. Each year, Samaritan reinvests nearly $1 million in non-reimbursed care thanks to the generosity of its donors. The organization employs 400 staff, cares for more than 475 hospice patients daily, and provides roughly 16,000 palliative care visits annually. The organization enjoys an outstanding reputation for its quality care and is one of only six hospices in New Jersey to achieve the highest 4-star level of care in the We Honor Veterans program.

The CFO Role

Samaritan is in search of a highly experienced healthcare finance professional to join its Executive Team and assume a strategic role in the overall management and growth of the organization.

The CFO will work collaboratively with the CEO and Executive Team to establish the organization’s financial goals, objectives and budgets and provide timely advice and consultation to the CEO and Board. The CFO will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all financial and investment related activities of the company and take a lead role in evaluating acquisition and partnership opportunities. The position will lead a 12-person Finance Team.

In addition, the CFO will be administratively responsible for safeguarding Samaritan’s assets and working with the CEO to ensure that the organization has the resources necessary to meet its established goals and objectives.

All candidates must be strong strategic thinkers who enjoy rolling up their sleeves, managing as a player / coach, and building customer-focused teams.

How You Qualify

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ accounting experience with five years’ supervisory experience, and at least three years’ executive level experience and leadership for a finance and / or accounting department and staff
  • Prior experience in healthcare
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and generally accepted auditing standards
  • Strong financial modeling skills, along with understanding of financial reporting and cash flow dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability in leveraging technology to enhance revenue or operating efficiencies
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to balance multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people including senior leaders, department managers, staff, clinicians, patients, families and external stakeholders
  • Compensation

    Compensation for the CFO position includes a competitive base salary,bonus and benefits package. Relocation assistance will be provided to any candidate who lives beyond commuting distance.
