Overview

Senior Reference and Outreach Librarian at Creighton University , Omaha, NE. Works in the Klutznick Law Library and McGrath North Mullin & Kratz Legal Research Center. The Reference and Outreach Librarian serves as a pivotal liaison between the law library and its academic community, supporting research, instructional services, and faculty engagement. This position contributes to outreach initiatives and manages reference services to enhance access to legal information and research support.

Responsibilities

• Lead reference services : oversee direction, coordination, and delivery of legal reference across the law library; manage resources, personnel, and initiatives to ensure high-quality research support.
• Reference Operations & Coordination : manage the reference schedule, coordinate monthly reference team meetings, and respond to reference questions during scheduled desk shifts and outside designated hours.
• Reference Collection & Resource Development : oversee development of the reference collection, review new titles, lead LibGuides, manage reference handouts, maintain NOLO materials and related content, and supervise access to research tools via public access terminals; coordinate maintenance with designated access services staff.
• Outreach and Instruction : develop and implement outreach initiatives to engage students, faculty, and staff; co-teach research and instructional classes; monitor external trends and best practices to adapt outreach efforts.
• Faculty Services : act as primary faculty liaison for library services; identify faculty research needs, support discrete and long-term research projects, and hire, train, and supervise student research assistants for faculty support.
