Specialty Clinic Oncology Nurse Coordinator
Position : Full-Time

Position Summary
The Oncology Nurse Coordinator provides direct nursing care for hematology / oncology patients, including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :
Assessing patientsAdministering cancer treatmentsExplaining the treatments and answering questions for patientsManaging the side effects of cancer treatments and helping manage painMonitoring vitals of patientsCoordinating patient care with all other providersSupporting the emotional wellbeing of patientsProviding information on resources for family membersPerforming assessment, access, and maintenance of venous access devicesPerforming phlebotomy procedures including starting peripheral IVs and drawing blood from midline catheters, peripherally inserted central catheters, and portsActing as a resource to other Cancer Clinic nursing staff and participating in the development, maintenance, and implementation of educational initiatives and policies and proceduresEnsures the confidentiality of patients’ medical, personal, and financial records is maintainedComplying with Cherry County Hospital personnel policiesPerforming other duties as assigned by supervisor or Hospital AdministrationSkills and Abilities Required
Ability to adapt quickly to changing situationsSkilled in providing a safe space for patients undergoing cancer treatmentsStrong communication skills to explain treatments to patients and share information with PhysiciansCollaborate well with other care providersStrong understanding of cancer treatments and research to support patientsKnowledgeable of HIPAA regulationsPhysical Demands and Working Conditions

Requirements :
Minimum Job Requirements
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of NebraskaObtain (prior to May 1st, 2024) and maintain oncology certificationBachelor’s degree in nursing preferredExperience in oncology preferred
