Location : Mercy Hospital Washington

Schedule : Part-Time, Night Shift (24 hours / week)

Why Join Our Med / Surg Team?

Step into a dynamic, fast-paced 30-bed unit that provides high-quality care to both adult and pediatric patients. While most of our patients are 18+, we also care for a small number of pediatric patients monthly. We serve a diverse range of needs including :

• Post-operative care (knees, hips, shoulders, colon resections, bariatric surgery)
• Acute medical conditions (sepsis, pancreatitis, stable pneumothorax)
• General surgeries (appendectomy, cholecystectomy)

You'll join a team known for its dedication, empathy, teamwork, and clinical excellence. Nurse-to-patient ratio : 1 : 6, with strong PCA support.

Your Role as a Patient Care Associate

Under the guidance of an RN or LPN, the PCA delivers hands-on care to support each patient's path to recovery.

PCA Responsibilities :

Measure and record vital signs in the electronic medical record

Assist with daily living needs (bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation, mobility)

Provide patient transport and clerical support as needed

Mercy offers a fully accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, equipping you with hands-on experience and nationally recognized credentials. New to healthcare? No problem we provide a comprehensive 175-hour paid training program, meeting Department of Health and Senior Services requirements.

Certifications Required :

BLS (within 1 month of hire)

PCA Competency completion (within 3 months)

Qualifications

Education : High school diploma, GED, CNA / CPTC, or enrollment in a healthcare-related high school program. Current Mercy co-workers are also eligible.

Experience : None required we'll train you!

Preferred Certification : CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

Physical Requirements : Ability to lift / push / pull 50 lbs regularly Prolonged walking and standing Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting
