UI / UX Designer - Diabetes Technology
We're seeking a talented UI / UX Designer to create intuitive digital experiences for the Pivot insulin pump and next-generation diabetes technology. You'll design mobile apps, portals, and data dashboards that simplify diabetes management for patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end experiences for iOS, Android, and web applications including companion apps, provider tools, and onboarding flows
- Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that transform complex workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces
- Build and maintain a comprehensive design system in Figma with design tokens, component libraries, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
- Partner with iOS, Android, and web development teams to ensure pixel-perfect implementation
- Conduct user research and usability testing with patients, diabetes educators, and healthcare providers to validate design decisions
- Collaborate with product, clinical, engineering, and marketing teams in Agile / Scrum processes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field (or equivalent work experience)4-7 years of UX / UI or product design experience focused on consumer digital productsProven experience shipping native mobile products (iOS / Android) with strong understanding of platform-specific design patternsStrong portfolio showcasing user-centered design thinking and successful product launches (portfolio required)Expert proficiency in Figma and prototyping toolsStrong visual design skills with attention to UI aesthetics, typography, and brand consistencyUnderstanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)Excellent communication skills with ability to work in fast-paced, Agile environmentsPreferred Qualifications
Experience designing for healthcare, medical devices, or chronic disease managementFamiliarity with FDA human factors requirements (IEC 62366-1) for regulated medical devicesExperience with data visualization, health dashboards, or gamified experiencesUnderstanding of diabetes terminology and patient needsDetails
Location : San Diego, CA (on-site / hybrid)
Travel : Occasional (up to 15%) for user research and conferences
