Enhanced Cardiac Access Medical Assistant
Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia is a professional medical organization committed to the healing mission of Medicine. CCP specializes in providing comprehensive cardiology care and currently has over 30 locations throughout the Philadelphia area. We are currently hiring for a full-time Medical Assistant at our Springfield, PA location.
Position Summary : The ECA Medical Assistant supports nurses and providers in delivering high-quality patient care within the Enhanced Cardiac Access (ECA) Unit. This role is responsible for assisting with clinical procedures, patient preparation, and documentation while maintaining a safe, efficient, and compassionate environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Greet and escort patients to exam rooms; obtain vital signs and perform electrocardiograms (EKGs).
- Record patient history, chief complaint, medications, allergies, and family / social history in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, including phlebotomy, following established protocols for handling and transport.
- Apply universal precautions and follow exposure procedures for bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
- Safely handle and dispose of medical waste.
- Change or apply wound dressings as directed.
- Apply Holter monitors and provide appropriate patient education.
- Reinforce diet and medication instructions per provider orders; provide educational resources to patients.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and follow office procedures for ordering supplies.
- Check medical equipment for safety and functionality; promptly report any issues.
- Complete clerical duties, including filing, scanning, scheduling, insurance eligibility / precertification and maintaining patient records in the EMR.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and quality patient care.
- Follow established protocols for emergency response situations.
- Provide cross-coverage in other clinical areas as needed.
Qualifications & Competencies :
Demonstrated ability to perform clinical and clerical tasks accurately.Strong communication and patient education skills.Knowledge of medical terminology, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-centered environment.Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-focused care.Maintains a positive, professional demeanor at all times.Certified or registered Medical Assistant.Current BLS certification.Experience with phlebotomy and cardiology preferred.Benefits :

If you are hired, and assuming your employment is in good standing, you will receive the sign-on bonus. The bonus will be paid to you no later than 30 days following your start date. In the event that you voluntarily terminate your employment or the Company terminates your employment for cause within 6 months of your date of hire, you will be required to repay the full amount of your sign-on bonus.
