Description
Our Trex Trailer Mechanic is responsible for performing safe, professional mechanical repairs and DOT inspections on Trex fleet trailers, including walking floor bulk trailers, flatbeds, vans, containers, and pneumatic tankers. Conduct yard checks, maintain service records, communicate trailer status, and support overall fleet safety and reliability. Welding skills preferred. This is a Full-time Monday - Friday (7 AM - 3 PM) postion.
Key Duties and Responsibilities :
- Represent Trex in a professional manner while ensuring our Trex Fleet Trailers are safe and in proper working condition for usage.
- Perform daily yard checks of trailers and communicate issues back to the Logistics Supervisor so they can update the out-of-service trailers in Yard Management.
- Perform scheduled services, as needed, in conjunction with our established service schedules.
- Perform Federal DOT Inspections for all trailers as required by law.
- Perform systems checks on wood trailers.
- Keep and maintain proper paperwork for each trailer. This list includes but not limited to : DOT Inspection / reports, dates and repairs of each trailer, license plate expirations and other paperwork requested by management.
- Do spot inspections to verify empty / loaded weights of trailers and maintain a running log. Scale is on site.
- Work Overtime as required.
- Work well in a team environment and on your own with the desire to learn and clearly communicate with Fleet Supervisor, Fleet Coordinators, other Co-Workers, and leadership.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by Management.
- The preferred candidate will have the ability to perform basic welding to complete non-invasive repairs.
Physical Demands : In this role, you must be able to lift 50 pounds, be able to work from heights, stand for extended periods and climb ladders.
Work Environment : This job takes place in and around a manufacturing facility. This role will be exposed to a wide variety of environmental situations, including a wide range of temperatures. Employee's will be expected to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Experience and Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Must be able to perform a Federal DOT Inspection.Must be Wheel End and Air Brake Certified.COMPENSATION
Hourly compensation for this role is $36.59.
