We are currently seeking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to become an integral part of our development team! You will design and test operating systems-level software and network distribution software.
Position Type : Direct Hire
Pay Range : $91k - $136k Annually
Shift / Schedule Details : 8am - 5pm M -F
Incentives (Sign-on Bonus / Relocation) : Possible Relocation (if eligible)
Additional Notes (if any) : Expert-level knowledge in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, including system hardening, performance tuning, and patch management
- Advanced VMware vSphere expertise with experience in VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation) environments preferred
- Proficiency with Ansible for configuration management and automation
- Experience with Git / GitHub for version control and collaborative development
- PowerShell scripting for Windows automation and cross-platform management
- YAML configuration and infrastructure-as-code principles
- Bash / shell scripting for Linux automation.
Job Summary :
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for determining requirements, developing project plans, implementation and providing operational technical support to meet expected functionality of new or existing Servers, workstation hardware and software systems.
Job Responsibilities :
Establishes objectives and goals for our network servers, workstations, and applications which are consistent with SFHS information systems' overall project planning and vision.Collaborate with stakeholders, department management, and internal resources to provide smooth and reliable operation of applications and ensuring the underlying infrastructure is fulfilling business objectives and processes.Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, as required.Leads complex projects and serves as escalation point for incidents or problems with a high degree of complexity.Provides technical planning for users, information services, and network services departments.Plans, designs, configures, and implements server-based software / hardware with minimal impact to overall network availability and performance.Designs operational and administrative requirements and specifications for network servers.Workstations and applications must be in accordance with institutional / departmental policy and procedures.Plans, implements, and maintains network hardware / software systems to perform at optimum levels as specified by respective vendors and as required by the Saint Francis Health System.Decision Making : The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.Working Relationships :
Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise).Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise).Works directly with internal and external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.Special Job Dimensions :
Off-campus system support duties will require use of a private vehicle. A valid driver's license, Motor Vehicle Report and proof of vehicle liability insurance in the amount required by SFHS guidelines will be required.
Skills :
Required Skills & Experience :
Minimum five (5) years of related experience including three (3) years of large network server and workstation support experience.Expert-level knowledge in server and virtualization systems.Demonstrated knowledge in Data Center Operations.Working knowledge of storage platforms, backup / recovery systems, cloud infrastructure, and associated platforms and tools.Demonstrated understanding of systems design and architecture with ability to research, test and recommend new or enhanced technologies.Functional understanding of Network design and protocols.Functional knowledge of Virtual Desktop platforms, Citrix or VMware.In-depth understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems; Including management and operational tools (AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, ADFS, Azure).Ability to work in high-stress situations and collaborative setting.Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to comprehensively document systems, procedures, and protocols.Education : Required Education :
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.Ten (10) years of enterprise-level experience, in lieu of Bachelor's degree may be considered.Required Certifications & Licensure :
Applicable professional certification(s) related to server operating systems and / or infrastructure applications preferred including, but not limited to : VMware, Microsoft, RedHat, ITIL, or other industry-standard professional certification.Company Description
