Cyber Security Assessor Chicago, Illinois - onsite Hours : 8 : 00 PM – 4 : 00 AM US citizenship required per customer / government contract W2 employment only, no C2C Our client has a critical need for a Cyber Security Control Assessor to support the Chicago Airport Cyber Security Assessment. This role will be responsible for executing Security Control Assessments (SCAs) and providing risk analysis across highly sensitive airport environments. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with CNSS, NIST, FISMA, and TSA standards while delivering expert cybersecurity guidance to government stakeholders. This position plays a key role in improving and maintaining the cybersecurity posture for mission-critical systems supporting airport operations. Primary Responsibilities :
- Conduct Security Control Assessments (SCAs) in accordance with NIST RMF and CNSS policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Provide validation, analysis, and documentation of assessments for Chicago Airport systems, applications, and appliances.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance assessment and compliance CONOPS and SOPs.
- Evaluate and update cybersecurity risk indicators, including emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Deliver risk recommendations and track remediation through POA&Ms and continuous monitoring processes.
- Author white papers and reports to identify trends, adversary activities, and systemic risks impacting airport operations.
- Support compliance engagements, engineering review boards, configuration control boards, and C-SCRM efforts.
- Document lessons learned and provide training and guidance to key stakeholders. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 8-15 years of related experience (or Master’s degree with 6-13 years of related experience).
- Strong knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) policies, CNSS guidance, NIST RMF, FISMA, and related standards.
- Demonstrated experience with audits, compliance, and IT security review processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief senior leadership.
- U.S. Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications
- Prior IT security or audit experience.
- Experience supporting high-security national mission environments.
- Familiarity with FIPS 140-2 and other federal compliance frameworks.
