• 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
• Previous charge experience

Description :

This position is for a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery.

The nurse will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to obstetrical care.

Skills required include performing sterile vaginal exams and triage of obstetrical patients.

The nurse will manage patients with diabetes mellitus and pre-eclampsia / eclampsia.

Experience with premature rupture of membranes and external fetal monitoring is essential.

Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns are required.

The role includes administration of blood and blood products.

Starting and maintaining peripheral IVs, and using infusion pumps is necessary.

The nurse will administer antihypertensives, assist with vaginal deliveries, and provide discharge teaching to parents.

Newborn assessments and teaching circumcision care to parents are also required.

Experience with epidural anesthesia and opioid management is needed.

Pain assessment and management skills are necessary.

Foley catheter insertion, fundus, lochia, and perineum care are part of the responsibilities.

The nurse will assist with both vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.

Isolation precautions and PPE must be strictly followed.

The unit experiences an average of 50 births per month.

The registered nurse will work with neonates, infants, and adult patients.

All registered nurses are cross-trained for labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.

Effective communication skills are essential, particularly using the SBAR method.

The candidate must have experience charting in an electronic medical record system.

Candidates must be willing to float to different areas as needed.

Weekend shifts will be required every other weekend.
