Mechanic II-1

Job Summary

Employees in positions at this level of the series support achievement of plant objectives through maintaining manufacturing or packaging equipment at required operating levels by adjusting or replacing parts as necessary to facilitate the repair and / or changeover of equipment to manufacture or package various products. Also maintain manufacturing and / or packaging equipment at required operating levels, through the performance of preventative / predictive maintenance and major overhauls in order to meet departmental production standards on equipment.

Typical duties of the job include, but are not limited to :

1. Communicate clearly in English both verbally and written

2. Wear appropriate required safety gear

3. Attend work regularly and reliably

4. Work overtime as scheduled or directed

5. Operate computers to access / utilize company e-mail and to monitor equipment

6. Demonstrate awareness of and compliance with all pertinent safety policies and procedures

7. Maintain a clean and organized work environment

8. Operate mobile equipment in a safe manner

9. Participate in work related training programs and adhere to Company Core Values

10. Meet progression plan requirements for 30, 60, 90, 120 day orientation

11. Install and align new equipment

12. Gather / process data from multiple sources related to electrical / mechanical failures

13. Service, troubleshoot and repair any problem of any electrical / mechanical nature

14. Perform preventative / predictive maintenance on equipment as assigned

15. Utilize SAP to search for spare part location

16. Work with outside vendors to troubleshoot / diagnose / correct equipment problems

17. Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs and VSDs

18. Install / align pump coupling and v-belts, install bearings, install / connect motors / starters

19. Maintain / replace / rebuild process / utility equipment (C-30 Drive spindle, Grinder UT 62 spindle, Labour pumps, etc)

20. Plan / assemble / install / maintain / troubleshoot / repair electrical fixtures and wiring

21. Test / repair fire alarm systems, water and gas distribution, fuel oil, cooling tower and compressed air systems

22. Remove and replace electric motor heaters and remove and install centrifuges

23. Change and clean air conditioner coils and filters

24. Measure vibrations and perform typical soldering, acetylene cutting and welding of an advanced nature

25. Perform pipe fitting layout, installation and repair work

26. Pack steam valves and install pump packing

27. Remove and replace valves and inspect / troubleshoot pump systems

28. Inspect and replace hoses, blowout panels

29. Sight glass installation

30. Use basic hand and power tools and shop equipment competently

31. Perform preventative / predictive maintenance on equipment as assigned

32. Install and align new equipment

33. Troubleshoot mechanical failures repair mechanical failures

34. Gather and process data from multiple sources related to electrical failures

35. Verify job is complete and machine made whole before turn over

36. Execute assigned work orders and accept a minimum of 60% of call-ins

37. Continuously build a body of technical knowledge to master new skills

38. Work with outside vendors to troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct equipment problems

39. Perform PLC 2 and 5 programming

40. Calibrate and tune process control loops

41. Analysis and / or troubleshooting using Allen-Bradley T-3, T-50, T-47 shop computer

42. Execute work orders

43. Perform preventative / predictive maintenance on equipment as assigned

44. Layout and complete one-man jobs

45. Plan, assemble, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical fixtures and wiring

46. Install and connect motors and starters

47. Test and repair fire alarm systems, water distribution, fuel oil, gas distribution, cooling tower, and compressed air systems

48. Perform job duties in a manner that follow food safety and quality guidelines including but not limited to HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.
