Sr. Structural Engineer
As a Sr. Structural Engineer, you will work with Mechanical Project Engineers to specify designs for platforms, floor supports and hanging conveyor supports. You will also be responsible for putting together system permitting packages with the support of the Mechanical Project Engineer and Project Manager. Additional time will be spent working with Product Development to analyze and design new connections and supports.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and layout of hanging conveyor support systems for material handling projects
- Assist in the design of racking, pick modules, and platforms within material handling projects
- Calculate support point loads for a conveyor support system using structural finite element analysis software
- Generate bills of material for complex hanging support systems
- Prepare layout and detail drawing packages for Mechanical Installation that specify how supports and bracing are to be installed
- Generate permit drawing and calculation packages, which include support, anchor, and bracing schedules, to submit to local jurisdictions for project permitting
- Travel to active job sites to instruct / guide the installation of Trew's material handling equipment
- Define and document standards, processes, and work instructions
- Lead the continued development of automated tools used for support design
- Assist Product Development with the design and analysis of the Trew conveyor support product line
- Participate in and lead design reviews related to the structural design of a system, and generate notes to be distributed to the project team
Qualifications
Great oral and written communication skillsProficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experienced knowledge of drafting software (AutoCAD, Navisworks)Ability to generate structural calculations of pinned connectionsAbility to multitask, prioritize, define schedule, and manage time efficientlyHighly motivated, ambitious, and attentive to detailExperienced knowledge of structural finite element analysis and design software (Staad.Pro or similar)Experience with building information modeling software (BIM360 or similar)Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field10+ years of related experience, preferably in the material handling industryLicensed PEPhysical Requirements
Required to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms for the use of tools to assemble heavy equipment. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds. Travel less than 10%.
