Job Description

The Histology Technician is responsible for obtaining and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, ensuring precise and accurate preparation for dermatopathologist review. This involves tasks such as grossing, fixation, cutting, mounting, and staining of tissue samples.

Responsibilities

• Accession, receive, and prepare tissue specimens.
• Perform grossing and inking, if qualified.
• Prepare media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions.
• Process tissue through embedding, microtomy, staining, cryostat use, and freezing.
• Label and prepare slides; perform quality control checks.
• Examine slides under a microscope to detect abnormalities.
• Maintain instruments, equipment, and work areas to ensure operational efficiency.
• Log, file, track, and store specimens and slides systematically.
• Maintain lab supply inventory and documentation, including QA / QC logs.
• Adhere to compliance and training requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00 / hr.
