Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Follows the therapist's plan of care. Adjusts the treatment based on patient response and available evidence only after communicating with the evaluating therapist and documenting that communication in the daily note.
Assists in a patient's occupational profile and performance through appropriate assessment methods. Describes the expectations of the patient in their natural environment. Identifies contraindications and precautions. Obtains information on the patient's diagnosis or medical condition. Identifies the need for additional or supplementary information.
Administers assessments in a uniform manner so as to ensure findings are valid and reliable. Makes accurate, objective observations during the evaluation process. Modifies approach and environment in response to patient behavior, fatigue, and emotional factors.
Implements intervention plans that are patient-centered, occupation-based, and modified according to patient response. Demonstrates a sequential plan of treatment activities, taking into consideration the functional and emotional needs of the patient and family and within the allotted time. Adapts activities to meet physical, cognitive, and / or behavioral limitations. Changes treatment approach with consideration to the environment and outcomes being addressed.
Collaborates with patient, family, and significant others throughout the occupational therapy process.
Educates patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
Actively collaborates with the occupational therapist and seeks direction with OTR.
Clearly and accurately articulates the value of occupation as a method and desired outcome of occupational therapy to others.
Produces clear, objective, and accurate documentation that uses professional language, provides support for decisions made, and provides necessary information to payers.
Participates in activities addressing quality of service delivery.
Clearly and effectively communicates verbally and nonverbally with patients, families, significant others, colleagues, service providers, and the public. Communicates with other team members as needed regarding patient progress. Serves as a resource for conflict resolution.
Clearly directs support personnel while they are assisting with patient care or other support functions.
If applicable, completes annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements.
Department Specific Job Function
Provides occupational therapy treatment interventions based on plan of care established by evaluating OT
Competes range of motion measurements of the elbow, wrist, and hand
Provides training to patients on ADLs including dressing, cooking skills
Completes fluidotherapy treatment
Completes daily documentation and charging in therapy EMR
Communicates with referring provider on patient progress and treatment recommendations
Completes annual requirements as per therapy clinical ladder for senior status which includes supervision of students, completing an approved project, and one in-service training

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $24.18per hour - $40.38per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
