This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.

The position provides a hybrid schedule which currently requires in-office attendance two days a week and remote work for the rest of the week. Travel for this position will be minimal and will be within the State of Tennessee.

Salary : The minimum starting salary for this position is $4,562 per month. Exceptions for higher compensation may be considered based on education and experience in accordance with Department of Human Resources (DOHR) policy. The State of Tennessee offers a comprehensive benefits program to include health, dental, life, vision, and disability insurance programs, paid state holidays, and generous leave benefits. In addition, State of Tennessee employees are eligible for participation in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS).

Job Overview :

The Internal Audit Division of the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security is looking for an experienced auditor with a desire to support the mission of the department. As an Auditor 3 in the Grant Monitoring group, you will monitor grant recipients across the state to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations as well as the terms of grant agreements with the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security. Under general supervision, the Auditor 3 will work independently to perform monitoring reviews of Highway Safety grants that are paid and administered through the Departments Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO). The Auditor 3 may also be assigned to other grant monitoring engagements as needed by the Division. The Auditor 3 position is an Executive Service position housed in the Internal Audit Division, reporting directly to the Auditor 4 in charge of grant monitoring activities.

Key Responsibilities :

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Working with the subrecipient grant monitoring team on monitoring of grants administered by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office
  • Complete monitoring engagements of grantees ensuring that adequate internal controls are in place and spending is in accordance with the terms of the grant agreement.
  • Preparation of draft monitoring reports that clearly communicates monitoring results and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Monitoring of federal grant activity by the TDOSHS.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

    Position Requirements : Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting or similarly focused business degree. Previous experience with grant monitoring and / or subrecipient monitoring is highly preferred. Professional certification(s) such as CPA, CIA, or CFE is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
