Our client is seeking an Outreach Professional to promote energy efficiency programs to commercial customers and industry partners throughout New Jersey. This position is responsible for engaging businesses as well as contractors, manufacturers, distributors, and engineers that provide energy-saving products or services. The Outreach Professional will support lead generation, track program participation, represent the program at events, and help meet performance targets.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and comfortable working independently or within a team environment. A strong work ethic, professional communication skills, and willingness to travel within the state are essential.
Recruit contractors, engineers, consultants, manufacturers, and distributors to participate in energy efficiency programs
Identify energy-saving project opportunities by working with building owners, property managers, and facility engineers
Attend and represent the program at industry events, conferences, and meetings
Deliver presentations to encourage program participation and project development
Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person meetings
Track and enter outreach activity into a CRM system
Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a positive representative of the program
Generate and follow up on leads to help achieve energy savings targets
Report on program metrics and key performance indicators as required
Collaborate with team members to support outreach and business development goals
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business or 3+ years of experience in sales, account management, or a related field
Ability to understand technical concepts and explain them clearly to various audiences
Proven success in generating and converting leads
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and solve problems effectively
Positive, team-oriented attitude
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM software
Willingness to travel within New Jersey up to 75% of the time
Valid driver’s license
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Comfortable speaking to and facilitating groups of community stakeholders
Ability to perform fieldwork including standing, walking, climbing, and kneeling for extended periods
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
Bilingual – Spanish / English
Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds
Desired Skills
Experience in the energy efficiency or utility industry
LEED or CEM certification
