About the Role
We are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to take ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining highly reliable, scalable, and secure network solutions across enterprise data centers and public cloud environments. In this leadership role, you'll guide technical direction, mentor peers, and ensure our networking foundation supports mission-critical operations for the business.
Base pay range
$150,000.00 / yr - $180,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Lead network architecture, design, and implementation across multi-data center and cloud environments.
- Oversee ISP evaluation, onboarding, and vendor management.
- Manage hardware selection, qualification, and lifecycle.
- Drive capacity planning to ensure scalability and resilience.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, OpenTofu) , configuration management, and secrets storage to automate provisioning and configuration.
- Implement observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog, etc.) with proactive alerting and incident resolution.
- Oversee installation, configuration, and patching of network equipment to ensure high performance, cost efficiency, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize infrastructure performance and availability.
- Document designs, standards, and processes for consistent, repeatable results.
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
- Balance tactical fixes with long-term strategy to align with business priorities.
- Lead incident response and blameless RCA sessions, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Partner with engineering leadership to align network strategies with organizational goals.
Required Skills
Deep expertise in network protocols, layers, security practices, and performance tuningHands-on experience with data center and cloud networking architecturesStrong Linux networking background and ability to analyze packet captures.Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, ECS, Helm for containerized environments.Experience with CI / CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Argo, CircleCI), VCS tools (Git, GitHub), and ticketing systems (Jira, Azure DevOps).Strong background in configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).Proven ability to lead technical teams and influence architectural decisions.Preferred / Bonus
Experience in eCommerce, defense, or highly regulated industries.Knowledge of Brendan Gregg's Linux performance methodologies.Familiar with industry podcasts and communities (e.g., Packet Pushers).Why Join
