Medical Office Assistant
Responsibilities :
- Ensure efficient patient flow and prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient examinations.
- Provide appropriate procedural support following department-specific guidelines.
- Perform initial intake of patients, including interviewing patients and families to obtain chief complaints, vital signs, and allergy information.
- Accurately record and update relevant patient information.
- Perform daily Quality Controls (QC) for all Point of Care (POC) testing and obtain specimens.
- Accurately perform and record patient POC testing per policy.
- Under provider and / or RN direction, perform tracking and retrieval of patient lab / diagnostic testing results to facilitate timely provider review and follow-up.
- Assist with the administrative functions of the patient prescription renewal process in accordance with policy.
- Provide cross-coverage for other appropriate clinical roles and support departmental medical record audits.
- Clean and stock patient care rooms between patients and maintain appropriate inventories of all medical supplies.
- Stock and maintain all patient-related forms and educational materials.
- Utilize equipment appropriately and notify the Practice Manager in a timely manner of equipment / facility breakdown or damage.
- Ensure documentation is legible and falls within the appropriate MA scope and organizational documentation guidelines.
- Demonstrate accuracy in basic data entry and data retrieval of paper / electronic patient records.

The candidate will work in two offices located in Smithtown and West Islip. The shift is Monday to Friday, either 8 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM, with an 8-hour shift including a half-hour unpaid lunch (paid for 7.5 hours per day). No weekend work is required. The role requires familiarity with taking manual vitals, using holter monitors, and performing EKGs.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00 / hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Smithtown, NY.
