Leading homebuilder is seeking a hands-on leader to manage purchasing, estimating, and cost control functions supporting multiple active communities across the greater Charleston market.
📍 Charleston, SC
This is a high-impact position for a construction professional who enjoys being close to the field, leading purchasing and estimating activities, driving cost accuracy, and building strong relationships with vendors, trade partners, and internal teams.
What You’ll Do :
- Lead and mentor a small purchasing / estimating team supporting all new home construction starts
- Oversee all purchase order creation, variance processing, and vendor pricing updates
- Estimate custom options and plan revisions in homebuilding ERP / Purchasing Systems
- Partner with Operations and Project Managers to ensure accurate takeoffs, budgets, and schedules
- Negotiate vendor agreements and manage supplier performance to meet cost, quality, and timing goals
- Review and approve change orders, ensuring full alignment between Sales, Design, Accounting, and Construction
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, process improvements, and value-engineering opportunities
Qualifications :
5–10+ years of experience in residential construction purchasing, estimating, or procurementProven ability to read blueprints, analyze budgets, and manage material cost controlLeadership experience within a homebuilder or trade / supplier organizationProficiency in homebuilding industry systems (JDE, BuildPro, Hypen SupplyPro, NEWSTAR, or similar) and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent communication and vendor negotiation skillsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or related fieldRelocation Assistance is available.All qualified candidates will be contacted promptly.
