Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele Pulmonary position requiring SD or compact RN licensure, with rotating day / night shifts and telemetry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital acute care setting on a combined 30-bed med / surg and 8-bed progressive care telemetry pulmonary unit
  • Patient population includes those with pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, and post-operative pulmonary conditions
  • Procedures performed include oxygen therapy, IV medications, moderate sedation, bronchoscopies, chest tubes, tracheostomies, non-invasive and mechanical ventilation
  • Utilizes Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Acudose medication system, and telemetry equipment
  • Shift is 12 hours with rotation between days and nights, including every other weekend and scheduled holidays
  • Floating required to other med / surg units with travelers given first priority for reassignment
  • Nurse to patient ratio of 1 : 4 to 5 for day shifts and 1 : 5 to 6 for night shifts
  • Trauma level 1 hospital environment
  • Daily responsibilities include managing complex pulmonary and cardiac patient care, administering IV medications, monitoring telemetry, and providing respiratory support
  • Day-one competency validation and unit orientation with nurse educators, including online modules and precepted shifts
  • Must wear navy blue scrubs as part of the dress code
  • All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
  • Previous employees of Sanford Health must have a 6-month break in service before being considered
  • Holiday coverage required as part of the rotating schedule

    • Requirements

  • Active SD or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years recent med / surg telemetry nursing experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
  • Experience with Bipap, Cpap, heated high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, and general medical-surgical patient care required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Ability to provide references from a nursing supervisor within the last 12 months and an additional peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years
