Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neonatal ICU assignment requiring a NV RN license and NICU expertise.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level III NICU within an acute care settingUnit has 26 beds with a mix of Level II and Level III patientsPatient population includes premature infants (22 weeks and up), respiratory distress, neonatal abstinence, post-op recovery, and complex feeding casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 2 for Level III and 1 : 3 for Level II patients, with 1 : 1 for hypothermia casesEvery infant receives continuous monitoring; no monitor techs on the unitVentilators, Bubble CPAP, NIMV, and nasal cannula equipment are usedCerner EMR is used; prior experience preferred12-hour night shifts (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM) with every other weekend requiredRequired to float to Peds for infants 28 days or younger and may perform tasks throughout the hospitalMust work 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day)NICU RNs provide care to critically ill and premature infants, including managing specialized equipment and titrating medicationsNo nurse aides are present on the unit; full-time charge nurse and house supervisor are present 24 / 7Hospital-approved scrubs must be worn and changed to OR scrubs in the delivery roomUnit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts with supplemental orientation materials and checklistsMust cover assigned major and minor holidays as per scheduling policyNo call or standby required; all call is voluntaryFirst time travelers are eligible for considerationRequirements
Active NV RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent NICU RN experience requiredCurrent BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required; STABLE certification is optionalExperience in delivery room, ventilator and IV / PICC management, and titration of drips (dopamine, dobutamine) requiredPost-op recovery care experience necessaryDriver’s license required for considerationCandidate must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) in any capacity in the past yearMust live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position2 professional references required : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 yearsBenefits
