Nursery Supervisor

Summary / Primary Purpose : To provide safe and high-quality care for infants and toddlers during Sunday worship service and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Supervise and provide structured care to children 0-4 years old during church worship hours and special events.
• Observe and monitor children's play activities.
• Collect and record pertinent child information as directed.
• Follow the appropriate protocol for checking toddlers and infants in and out of the nursery area.
• Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
• Engage children in activities including, but not limited to, reading, drawing, coloring and singing.
• Assist in preparing and serving appropriate snacks for children.
• Maintain nursery toys and equipment in an orderly, clean and sanitary condition.
• Change diapers as needed and appropriate.
• Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
• Work with volunteer(s) assigned to assist in the nursery.
• This position may be required to work special events outside of normal work hours, to include holidays.
• All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities : Volunteers.

Education and / or Experience : High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). No prior experience; will train on the job. Experience providing structured care to infants and toddlers is a plus.

Other Qualifications : Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions : The work is performed in a typical day care / nursery setting with moderate noise level.
